Stories of Section 2A/28 |
Share Your Reflection of Section 2A/28 this LGBT History Month
Today, Scotland is the first country in the world to commit to a national rollout of LGBT Inclusive Education. But it was only just over 20 years ago that a piece of public sector legislation prohibited the teaching of LGBT lives and relationships in schools.
So many of Scotland’s teachers and students lived through the devastating effects of Section 2A (known as Section 28 in England and Wales). What can we learn from their stories of the past, to help us take LGBT Inclusive Education forward in the present?
We are gathering members' own 'Stories of Section 2A/28' with a view to displaying people's reflections at our LGBT History Month event in February.
Below, we have some prompt questions to help you reflect on your own experiences and to share your story.
Feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you wish.
You will have an option to choose, at the end of this survey, whether you wish the EIS to include your story to be displayed in the event, and if you allow the EIS to use your story in part or full as part of our wider EIS work (for example, including but not limited to: in publications, learning and development sessions, as part of policy responses, campaigning for LGBT inclusive education, etc.)
And, of course, we hope you will join us on 21 February, to celebrate LGBT History Month!
You can register to attend our event here.
