Your Input Is Key to Sault Ste. Marie's Future
The City of Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma Workforce Investment Corporation (AWIC) are seeking crucial insights from local employers in Sault Ste. Marie. This information will help us attract the skilled foreign workers to our city for those hard-to-fill positions, address critical labour shortages, and support our local economy.
Earlier this year, Sault Ste. Marie was selected as one of 14 communities across Canada to participate in the RCIP, a federal program that helps rural communities attract and retain skilled immigrants. Replacing the former Rural Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP), the RCIP offers a pathway to permanent residence for eligible foreign nationals who secure a job offer from a designated local employer.
Why Your Participation Matters
Your feedback will directly guide our community's planning. By telling us about the specific occupations employers anticipate needing to fill in the coming years, you'll help us align the RCIP with our local labour market demands. This will ensure the program effectively connects skilled foreign workers with the jobs where they are most needed.
What We'll Do with the Results
The information you provide will be used to create a list of National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes that will be prioritized for the RCIP for the next three years (2026-2028). This means your input will help us prioritize specific occupations in key sectors to address jobs that they cannot fill with local workers.
This survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. All of your responses will be kept confidential and used solely for RCIP planning purposes.
