The tobacco industry won't stop targeting our youth with trendy, tasty, and enticing tobacco products. Each year more school-aged youth use tobacco products. Research has shown that the nicotine in these products harms adolescent brain development and promotes addiction. California voters have spoken and upheld the statewide ban on flavored tobacco products to protect our children.
We need local tobacco policies to ensure Humboldt communities can comply. By actively regulating the sale of tobacco products at the local level, our county's policymakers can enforce the statewide flavored tobacco ban and help prevent youth addiction and tobacco-related diseases. Please ask your city councils or board of supervisors to act now and protect our community and our youth.
