Where we are:
As you are aware, The Dip has now been closed for over a year – ever since the untimely death of its landlord in April 2024. Stonegate, the pub company that owns the freehold of The Dip, has now put the property up for sale at a price that is widely felt to be unrealistic, particularly given its run-down state and the significant renovation investment likely to be required.
A community group – Save The Dip – has been formed to help bring about a re-opening of the pub. This could be achieved through Stonegate’s acceptance of an offer made by a potential purchaser but, if this does not seem likely, another option could be some form of community buy-out.
The purpose of this short questionnaire is to ask you a few questions about this latter option and to understand your views regarding a funding model and some ways in which we might be able to pull together the funds required to purchase the freehold and ensure that the lights are not allowed to go out ever again.
