Petition to support Mountain Bike Trails in New Glarus Woods State Park

Please support the development of single-track mountain bike trails in New Glarus Woods State Park. The addition of dedicated mountain bike trails will make the park attractive to a broader audience and allow current users to enjoy the park in a new way without impacting existing recreational activities. This project will be Green County's first single-track mountain biking venue. Singletrack trails will provide an additional incentive for area children and adults to be physically active outdoors and maximize the footprint of the park. Children in the village of New Glarus will have the opportunity to recreate without the need for car transportation. Mountain biking in the area will generate synergies with existing bicycle infrastructure (Sugar River State Trail and Badger State Trail for families and casual touring, along with the surrounding county road network renowned by serious road cyclists) to reinforce this part of Green County as a cycling destination. Lastly, "Fat biking" offers the potential for increased winter use, even in low-snow winters. For all these reasons I urge you to support development of dedicated mountain bike trails in New Glarus Woods State Park.
