A Qualitative Phenomenological Study: Exploring the Lived Experiences of Black Teachers Navigating Identity, Power, and Belonging in K-12 Schools |
I am currently a doctoral student at Long Island University collecting information about the lived experiences of Black K–12 public school teachers navigating identity, power, and belonging in predominantly White school environments.
I would appreciate your participation in this brief eligibility screening survey through SurveyMonkey, which will take approximately 5–10 minutes to complete. If you meet the eligibility criteria and choose to continue, you may be invited to participate in a one-time 60–90 minute virtual interview conducted through Zoom.
With your permission, interviews will be audio and video recorded for research purposes. The recordings will be transcribed by the researcher and used only for transcription and verification purposes. Audio and video recordings will be permanently deleted once the transcripts have been reviewed and verified for accuracy. De-identified transcripts and other research data will be securely maintained for a minimum of three years after completion of the study, in accordance with Long Island University IRB requirements.
Screening survey responses will be stored securely through SurveyMonkey and used only to determine eligibility for this study. If you choose to provide your name and email address, that information will be used only to contact you regarding eligibility, scheduling, and participation in the study. Your contact information will be stored separately from your research responses.
Participation in this research study is completely voluntary. You may choose not to participate or may withdraw at any time without penalty. Your responses will be kept confidential to the extent permitted by law and university policy.
Thank you for considering participation in this study.
