All Texas state agencies with 1,500 or more employees must provide them with an opportunity to submit cost-saving ideas through the agency’s intranet and allow you – the public – to vote on your favorites. See Texas Government Code § 2054.1264. Please vote "For" or "Against" the latest cost-saving idea below, which the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts posted on May 30, 2019.

Question Title

* In Taxpayer Services, if a taxpayer calls and request forms, publications, and/or rules we can only send them via postal service or fax. With the current procedure that means that when a taxpayer calls requesting any of these documents, we will complete a Special Handling Request, then email the Special Handling Request to Tax Team 6 Operators who then print the requested documents and then have them either mailed or faxed. I am proposing that the Tax Team Operators still process these Special Handling Requests but be able to email them upon taxpayer request. This would save both time and money.

This idea would save money by potentially reducing the amount of paper, ink, envelopes, and postage required to send these reports via USPS. Because this function would still be handed by the same people there would be no need to create additional positions.
