* The blue wall of silence is a term used to refer to an unwritten code that dictates that police officers should not report on a colleague's misdeeds. Doing so could result in various forms of retaliation against an officer who breaks the code.  Retaliation could include being shunned, harassed or even fearing for one's safety while on the job.  If you were a police officer working in an environment such as this, would you risk retaliation by reporting an incident in which you witnessed a colleague engage in negligent or malicious behavior that resulted in someone's death?
