Hello, dear visitor!
Thank you for your interest in the questionnaire below. The answers to the questions are intended to be used for developing a new Cyrillic-Latin transliteration standard used in texts throughout Moscow in order to help English-speaking tourists navigate the streets of the Russian capital with ease and be able to read and pronounce the names of the Russian streets with as much precision and similarity to the source as possible.
Your input will be used to analyze the preferences and tendencies among the English-speaking community when reading transliterated Cyrillic texts and thus find the most accomodating variants of conveying a number of difficult sounds and letters of the Russian language.
For the purposes of this questionnaire, imagine that you are a tourist who has just arrived to Moscow. You need to find a particular street, "Васильевская", and want to ask locals for directions. You have a map with transliterated name of the said street, but don't know how it should be pronounced in Russian. See the examples of transliteration below and choose or add the variant that most closely corresponds to the way you'd pronounce the name of that street.
I'm sincerely thankful for your time and will do my best to propose a model that will be consistent with your expectations.
