At School District 47, we have a responsibility to ensure that all children receive the best possible learning experience. What do you think should be the top three priorities for our next Strategic Plan? Academic Student Success: ensure that all children develop strong skills in reading, writing, communication and mathematics. Mental Health Support: improved resources for students, teachers and staff. Modern Learning Environments: (e.g - enhancing opportunities for land-based learning, outdoor education, flexible and virtual learning delivery, etc.) Truth, Reconciliation and Healing: increased opportunities to understand and meaningfully engage with our Indigenous neighbours, through increased programs, resources and training to support the success and sense of belonging of Indigenous students in schools. Inclusive Learning Environments: ensuring that everyone feels safe and that they belong, regardless of race, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation (2SLGBTQIA+), ethnicity, national origin, socioeconomic status, language, and physical ability. This also includes targeted support for high-achieving students. Community Partnerships: more in-class experiences and opportunities, including mentorship and career planning from organizations and groups in our region. Skilled trades and technical education: promoting and supporting more pathways into these careers, including through regional industry partnerships and apprentice opportunities. Digital Literacy: improving skills to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and access to information is increasing online (tackling misinfomation, internet/online safety, etc.) Food Security: building universal, stigma-free programs to ensure that every family has access to nourishing food. Governance, communication, transparency and accountability: ensuring consultation and feedback with everyone, including how we communicate, what we communicate, and ensuring regional coordination with partners, schools and parents.
