Question Title

The McIver Dairy site, located at 10755 Donner Pass Rd., has a rich history in Truckee, providing a source of premium butter for much of the west coast in the late 1800s and early 1900s. More recently the site has been dubbed by some as the unofficial Truckee sled hill. Currently, the Truckee River Watershed Council is undertaking a grant-funded ecological restoration project of the wetland and meadow portions of the site. As the landowner, the Town is interested in providing safe and environmentally compatible access to the site and seeking how best to use this public space.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself, and your use of the McIver Dairy Open Space site:

Question Title

* 1. Are you a resident of Truckee?

Question Title

* 2. How often have you visited the McIver Dairy Open Space site, also known as Truckee Sled Hill, for sledding or otherwise?

Please take a look at the plan below, which shows an analysis of the site's existing conditions, opportunities, and constraints.

In particular, this shows the location of the wetland restoration project that is in progress on the site, and the locations of existing unofficial sled runs on northern slope of the hill. Foot traffic to and from the sled runs has been causing damage to the wetland meadow, so the plan explores opportunities to move sledding activity to the northeast slope. This would protect the restored wetland meadow, and complement other potential uses in that area of the site.
