School Year Calendar Consultation

We are in consultation for the 2021-2022 School Year Calendar and everyone in our school communities will have an opportunity to provide their input to ensure a full response during this process.

With our large area, the many communities and three other District School Boards with whom we need to coordinate calendars, this is always a complex process and your suggestions will assist us by providing the data necessary for setting the calendar. Using the feedback from the consultation, we may combine options, ideas, and compromises to create a 2021-2022 school year calendar. The boards will work to a consensus once the consultation process has been completed.

INFORMATION REGARDING THE DRAFT CALENDARS

1. PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY DAYS

Thursday, September 2, 2021
Friday, September 24, 2021
Friday, October 29, 2021 or Monday, November 1, 2021
Friday, February 4, 2022 (P*Assessment - Elementary Report Card Preparation)
Friday, April 1, 2022 or Friday, April 29, 2022
Friday, May 20, 2022
Friday, June 10, 2022 (P*Assessment - Elementary Report Card Preparation)

As part of the consultation process with the other three coterminous Boards, ADSB is looking for feedback on the scheduling of the Professional Activity Days:

The two options for the third Professional Activity Day are Friday, October 29, 2021 or Monday, November 1, 2021.
The two options for the fifth Professional Activity Day are Friday, April 1, 2022 or Friday, April 29, 2022.

Note: There must be at least 194 school days in a school year calendar of which no more than seven can be professional activity days. Due to the yearly calendar, school staff will need to begin prior to the Labour Day holiday to meet this Ministry requirement.

2. MARCH BREAK

March Break has been set by the Ministry for the week of March 14 to 18, 2022.

3. OTHER RELEVANT DAYS

Students begin classes on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.
The last day of classes for students is Thursday, June 30, 2022.

4. CHRISTMAS BREAK

The Ministry of Education has set the Christmas Break from Monday, December 20, 2021 to Friday, December 31, 2021. The Last Day of Classes is Friday, December 17, 2021 with classes resuming Monday, January 3, 2022.
