African American, Black, Afro-Caribbean (ABC) Consortium for Culturally Specific Strategies and Approaches Regional Forum

“Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence Living at the Intersection of Racism, Poverty, Mental Health & Gender Identity”

This convening of first in a series of critical conversations that the ABC Consortium is conducting across the U.S.!! This two-day forum is a platform for cross community and disciplines discussion on the impacts and intersections of unrecognized and/or misrecognized social justice issues as they relate to the barriers and solutions in safety net building and equitable and effective resources for ABC domestic and sexual violence survivors, their families and communities.

Forum topics will include:

·      Connecting the dots across violence, oppression, systemic determinates, multi-disciplinary and holistic approaches within ABC Communities

·      Connecting the dots between culturally inadequate services and social justice issues

·      Successful identification, outreach and resourcing of ABC communities

·      Developing and strengthening meaningful relationships with ABC communities

·      Centering the voices of ABC survivors, advocates and activists  

 

WOCN, Inc. and the ABC Consortium are at the forefront of centering and supporting the voices of ABC communities and expertise that will lead to community solutions to ensure the safety, equitable access to services and economic security of survivors, their families and communities.
