1. Eligibility Screening

Thank you for your interest in our research study. The purpose of this study is to assess the needs of the autism/Asperger’s community to help us develop a new software-assisted program for children with autism or Asperger’s Syndrome who are functioning developmentally in the 2nd-5th grade range. Your child (or children) must be at least 6 years old to participate, but if older, can be any age as long as their language and cognitive skills are at least at the 2nd grade level and are no further advanced than the 6th grade level.

We are looking for parents and professionals to provide us with their ideas and suggestions for developing an effective and motivating program that will include computer learning for these children as well as off-computer activities to enhance the skills they have learned on the computer. Language, social, and cognitive skills will be included in this program, as well as community and life skills for this developmental age group.

This initial screener is to verify that you are at least 18 years of age and either a parent or a professional working with children with autism or Asperger’s Syndrome and that your child or the children you work with are functioning within the developmental range for which this new product will be designed. After you complete these initial questions, you will receive an e-mail from TeachTown within 2 business days with the full questionnaire for this research study.

Your information will be used for research purposes only and no confidential information (e.g. your e-mail) will be shared with anyone not employed by TeachTown, Inc.

We appreciate your participation and those who complete this study will be invited to participate in our 2-month beta evaluation of this program with a child in 2008. Beta is the post testing, pre-release period where users work the finished program and provide final round feedback.
