Idea on new School Bus Safety Law

About 26 million kids ride school buses each day in this country. Here is an easy way to add a measure of safety. I encourage you to support the idea as a new federal law. The idea was inspired by my mother, who drove a school bus for 33 years with zero accidents.

Problem: When a school bus is loading or unloading, it has its red flashing lights on. During this time, cars are prohibited from passing the bus. However, distracted drivers often zoom right past these boarding buses.

* 1. Proposed Solution: By law, the first cars to approach a stopped school bus in each direction must turn on their hazard lights, until the bus turns off its lights. This will further alert drivers – and perhaps save a few accidents. Please post your response in the text box below.
