2nd Call - ERKNet Research Exchange Programme

Open Call for research exchange fellows

We are delighted to announce the second call for fellows of our successful ERKNet Research Exchange Programme which was first launched in 2024. This programme is intended to facilitate research projects focusing on ERKReg data and rare kidney disease topics.

In the first part of the call, senior ERKNet researchers submitted project proposals. The two most promising of these were selected to be matched with applications from interested junior researchers in the second part of the call, which is now taking place.

Projects:
The focus of the research proposals are on rare disease topics supported by data collected in our ERKReg registry. The project descriptions are available on the ERKNet website.

Supervision:
Successful applicants will participate in their selected project under the supervision of the Project Investigator. The research exchange can take place either at the ERKNet Coordination Office in Heidelberg (Germany) with dedicated support from the ERKNet team (including a Project ManagerData Manager/Statistician) or at the affiliated centre of the Project Investigator.

Timing:
The research stay can be up to three months (max. 10 weeks). The exact dates of the stay will be agreed with the host centre after the final approval of the selected candidates.

Eligible candidates:
- Clinicians with research focus
- PhD students
- Postdocs (max 3 years after PhD)
- Employment in ERKNet member or Affiliated Partner centre
- Different country of residence as the project mentor(s)
- Only one fellowship per person

Content of fellowship support:
- Travel cost for one return trip (EU unit cost/depending on distance)
- Accommodation for working days (EU unit cost/depending on country)
- Subsistences (lump sum to cover food, public transport, weekends)

If you are interested in other research projects:
The project proposals that were not selected for the exchange programme in the first round will be published on the website and can still be considered for collaboration projects, however without ERKNet funding. Please contact the mentors of these projects directly.
