Objective/Purpose


The information from this survey will assist Verra in determining the order in which to develop allocated deforestation risk maps and project baseline activity data for specific jurisdictions. These data are required for projects using Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) methodology VM0048 Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, v1.0 and the associated module VMD0055 Estimation of Emission Reductions from Avoiding Unplanned Deforestation, v1.1.

The Allocated Deforestation Risk Maps: Timetable indicates the current development status of allocated deforestation risk maps. Results from this survey will inform the order of those jurisdictions currently listed as "prioritization pending" as well as the second round of data collection that will be needed soon for many jurisdictions. The timetable will be updated pending the survey results.

VM0048 is an ICVCM-approved methodology, and projects using this methodology will receive Core Carbon Principles (CCP) labels for credits they generate.

None of the information provided in response to this survey will impact the accuracy review of project requests or Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ (JNR) programs, nor Verra’s certification decision on them.
