THE FOLLOWING WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE ELECTRONIC SURVEY: You are being asked to participate in a research study by Carol Taylor, a doctoral student from the School of Education in Organizational Leadership at UMASS Global. The purpose of this quantitative study is to determine the extent to which employee motivation and transformational leadership style predict job satisfaction among Gen Z social workers. I am conducting research to better understand the relationships between employee motivation, transformational leadership, and job satisfaction among Gen Z social workers. This research addresses a significant gap in the literature and offers vital implications for the social work profession. This study’s insights can inform social work leaders, city and county governments, the School of Social Work, and non-profit organizations serving the community on how to attract and retain Gen Z social workers in these professions.
Your participation in this survey is voluntary. You may choose not to participate. If you decide to participate in this electronic survey, you may withdraw at any time. Your responses will be confidential. I understand that no personal identifying information is requested. I understand the survey results will be used for scholarly purposes only.
The survey consists of four sections. After the Participant Informed Consent Agreement, the first section requests some demographic information. Upon completing the demographic information, you will be asked to complete the second section of the survey. This part of the survey will use the Global Transformational Leadership (GTL) Scale, developed by Carless et al. (2000), which asks you to rate seven leadership behaviors on a 5-point Likert scale. The third section of the survey utilizes The Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale (WEIMS) designed by Tremblay et al. (2009), which will ask you to rate to what extent 18 items correspond to the reason why you are presently involved in your work on a 7-point Likert scale. The fourth section of the survey will use The Abridged Job Descriptive Index and Abridged Job in General Scale developed by Bowling Green State University (BGSU) (n.d), which will ask you to select “yes”, “no,” or “?” on whether 38 words or phrases listed represent your job satisfaction. There are six areas within this survey as follows: work on present job, pay, opportunities for promotion, supervision, people on your present job, and job in general. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
By participating in this study, you may benefit by contributing to knowledge that better informs researchers, leaders, educators, and other professionals about Gen Z social workers’ motivation, leadership preference, and job satisfaction.
There are minimal risks associated with participating in this research study. The likelihood that you would be harmed by participating in this study is minimal because you will not be identified by name in any reports or publications. Your name will not be asked for during the survey. You may stop the survey at any time if you are not comfortable completing it.
