Margate Pride 2019 is anticipating an attendance of approximately 3000+ people. The main event will be taking place on the Piazza (on The Parade, Margate, CT9 1EY). The parade finishes at the car park behind Dreamland at approximately 15.30, all pedestrians and walking groups are encouraged to exit the parade from Marine Drive into Marine Gardens at the clock tower. All parade participants must ensure that copies of the necessary insurance documents are submitted along with parade application.

Any participants who have not registered or not provided the necessary information WILL NOT be able to take part in the parade. Parade participants are asked to assemble at the back of the Walpole Bay Hotel from 12:00. Access is via Fifth Avenue, Margate, CT9 2JJ. Last entry is at 13:40.

If you wish to have a float, or other vehicle, in the parade then please ensure you have conducted all of the necessary safety checks as Margate Pride accept no responsibility for damage to vehicles.

When arriving at the check-in point you will be informed of your position in the parade. This is non- negotiable. To discuss positions please contact us at  before the event.

All parade participants are advised to look at the parade route beforehand as some areas are down- hill and may cause a problem for pedestrians with mobility issues or on wheels. Margate Pride and its partners accept no responsibility for parade participants.

If you are requesting to walk with another group, please ensure you both put each other’s details down on the form. If one has already submitted without having done this – please email  as soon as possible

When checking in please ensure you arrive as your entire group otherwise we cannot admit entry. Please ensure that one member of your group can attend a pre-parade meeting at 13.45pm The address for the parade check-in is Fifth Avenue, Margate, CT9 2JJ The contact on the day, should you have any problems, is Tristan Verran.

Parade Attendees DO’s and DON'Ts and Safety Checks:

  • Float drivers must have a valid driver's licence appropriate to the vehicle. The licence must be available for inspection as part of the pre-parade safety checks.
  • Vehicles and trailers must be properly serviced. Vehicles pulling floats should be serviced for fuel, oil, water, tyres and battery prior to parade day. The Parade Manager or Safety Officer retain discretion to withdraw any unsafe vehicle.
  • No naked flames & Smoking - Naked flames and smoking is strictly prohibited on all floats. Every float must carry a first aid kit and a full fire extinguisher.
  • All construction materials must be effectively flame retardant. Please avoid paper construction. Float building materials must not be near or part of the exhaust fumes outlet. No sharp or unfinished edges should be exposed. No glass / crystals should be used.
  • No objects or literature of any kind shall be thrown from any float or distributed by any participant at any time.
  • Mounting and dismounting from a float is not permitted except in an emergency.
  • Floats shall be capable of maintaining a minimum speed of 5 miles per hour under anticipated conditions
