Mission Team - Discerns, advocates and communicates mission opportunities and missionaries that we support as a congregation.

Volunteer in Mission - Volunteer in Missions volunteers travel as needs arise, often going to areas recently devastated by natural disasters or where there is a great need. Recent trips to Camp Joy (ages Middle high and up), Dominican Republic - Least of These Ministry.

Least of These Ministries - In the Dominican Republic, LOTM serves as a year-round feeding program. Often support by financial contributions. VIM teams travel to build homes, churches, latrines, etc and offer Christian Education programs (Vacation Bible School).

Loaves and Fishes - A Community Meal program that prepares a free meal and served every Monday (10am - 1pm) in Jubilee Hall.

REACH - The Reach ministry extends their hands to church members coming home from the hospital, needing transportation to doctors, providing funeral luncheons and helping shut-ins with various needs. The program has monthly coordinators who rotate through the year and who in turn will call members of the REACH team to provide food or rides and needed.

VIP - The Visiting Important People Ministry offers church visits (cards, phone calls, too) by trained lay members to homebound members, attendees, and members relatives.

Stephen Ministry - Become a Certified Stephen Minister and help someone through a tough time, are hurting or those in crisis. This program provides an in-depth training course and follow up monthly sessions with other Stephen Ministers for continuing education and mutual support

Bus Ministry - This bus ministry provides transportation to and from our Center&Main facility to people who need a ride to worship on Sunday Mornings or special events held by the church. Drivers and bus monitors are needed for this ministry.

Telephone Prayer Circle - This is a small group who pray for others. This is circle is for those people who prefer to receive prayer requests via the telephone rather than electronic mediums.

Email Prayer Chain - This is an electronic prayer chain that receives prayer requests via email.

United Methodist Women - Executive or Circle Leader - The United Methodist Women is open to all women of our congregation however there are Leadership positions for those called to oversee the annual program. This is normally a president, vice president, treasurer and secretary and then executive board members often made of representation from the various circles. UWM circles are small groups which provide support, study, and mission opportunities for women and girls (yes, the UMW is open to youth-aged girls). UMW circles meet at various times throughout the week/month.

United Methodist Men - Executive or Circle Leader - The United Methodist Men is open to all men of our congregation however there are Leadership positions for those called to oversee the annual program. This is normally a president, vice president, treasurer and secretary and then executive board members. The UMM get together one a month for a devotion and breakfast and occasional mission opportunities. The program is open to men and boys (yes, the UMM is open to youth-aged boys)

United Methodist Youth Fellowship Counselor/Aide - The UMYF meets weekly and provides Youth with the opportunity to explore their faith in word and action.

Compassionate Knitters - Meets on Wednesdays at 1pm. The groups focuses on projects such a prayer shawls, baby hats for newborns. If you don't know how to knit, they will teach you.

Sunday School Teacher/Aide of Preschool Ages - Ages 2-5 - Plans and implements Sunday School resources for children ages 2-5. Resources provided and teachers and aides work in teams of three to four adults/high school youth.

Sunday School Teacher/Aide of Elementary Ages - Grades K-5 - Plans and implements Sunday School resources for children grades K-5. Orange Curriculum provided and teachers and aides work in teams of three to four adults/high school youth.

Sunday School Teacher/Aide of Mid high - Grades 6-8 - Plans and implements Sunday School resources for youth grades 6-8. Resources provided and teachers and aides work in teams of three to four adults..

Sunday School High Schooler Teachers Aid - This is an opportunity for high schoolers to transition into helping out with the younger ages and compliment the teaching staff for the Sunday School

Sunday School Substitute teacher - If you would like to help out occasionally as a substitute please check this box.

Sunday School Support Superintendent - Provides oversight of purchases and resources for Sunday School. Affirm and celebrate our all volunteers teaching staff, end of year programs and beginning the new year.

Sunday School Registrars - Maintains records of those attending Sunday School, collecting/counting the weekly Sunday School offerings.

Adult Education Teacher - serve as a teacher or facilitator in an adult education class.

Small Group Facilitator - there are a variety of small groups in our congregation ranging from affinity groups, covenant discipleship groups and bible studies. If you feel called to the ministry of teaching, this is a great way to form a small group and journey with others.

Church and Society Team - discerns, advocates, and communicates social issues and concerns that related to systemic ills in our society. Church and Society addresses a variety of topics: Care of God's creations, mental health concerns, impact of gambling or gaming in our society, homelessness challenges.

Prison Ministry - From time to time, workshops are held in the Carroll County Detention Center, Silver Oak Academy under Kairos Torch and Maryland State Penitentiary under the Kairos Prison Ministry.

Reconciling Ministry Community - this team welcomes and advocates for LGBTQAI+ persons and communicates and provides studies for inform our congregation about LGBTQAU+ concerns in contemporary society and our local community.

Small Group Participant who is interested in studying scripture, discussing a variety of topic related to contemporary society. Most recent topics have been on the challenges of racial disparities and racial reckoning and reconciliation. This group has also study a variety of topics including LGBT+ concerns, recent trends and challenges to the UMC as we seek an amiable separation from one another.

Worship Arts Team - This team oversees, plans and implements all the creative elements that go into a worship service throughout the year. This team finds new and innovative means to celebrate time honored traditions.

LINKS - LINKS creates a welcoming environment for those who come to our house of worship. This covers a lot of different opportunities to continue to making Center & Main the most welcoming place where folks want to become part of our community of faith.

Lay Reader - assist by reading scripture, offering prayers, etc. during Sunday Morning worship. This is a rotating position and generally only three to four times a year.

Greeters - welcomes Sunday Morning Worship participants at our Center & Main facility

Ushers - assists with seating worshippers, handing out bulletins, collecting the offering and helping people safely leave on Sunday Mornings at Center & Main.

Sound Technicians - regulates the sound system form the console in the balcony. We will train you to assist in this vital ministry.

Visual/Streaming Technicians - The visual and streaming team prepares, displays and streams the Sunday Morning worship experience. We will train you to assist in this ministry.

Acolytes - children and youth who light the candles and assist with the offering at the morning worship service at Center & Main.

Altar Guild - members prepare the altar and chancel for worship each week, assist the acolytes, and tidy up after morning worship. This is normally a rotating position.

Communion Steward - purchase and prepare the communion elements for the first Sunday of each month

Communion Servers - assist the pastor in serving the communion elements during the Sunday Morning worship service

Nursery and Child Care - Assist our paid staff in the nursery for Sunday morning and during special events as needed. High School Students are welcome to participate in this opportunity.

Hospitality - Volunteers arrange for and serve light refreshments in the Martha Manihan room on Sunday Mornings at Center &Main.

Banners and Paraments - do you have a creative talent to fill up a big space with creative art? This is a great opportunity to help decorate our space.

Chancel Choir - Vocal choir for colleges students and adults for assisting in the weekly worship services from September to June. Practices weekly.

Wesley Carillon - Bell Choir for college students and adults for assisting in the worship about once a month from September to June. Practices weekly.

Senior High Choir - Vocal choir for senior high students.

Annual Church Picnic - This event is often held in the mid to late summer period of the year. It is an opportunity to gather our church family together follow a Sunday Morning Worship to picnic in our community.

Fun Fellowship Team - the Fun Fellowship Team oversee churchwide event where our church family and have some fun. They generally have four to five church wide event a year and assist with other occasional church events through out the year. Perhaps you would like to serve on the fun-est team in the church.

Advent Family Night - Held the first Sunday in Advent during select years, this is a time for our congregation to gather for a pot-luck, create Advent wreaths and a quiet candlelight worship service.

Men's retreat - held during select years when men have an opportunity to gather for a weekend for fellowship and spiritual renewal.

Women's retreat - held during select years when women have an opportunity to gather for a weekend for fellowship and spiritual renewal.

Youth retreat - held during select years when youth have an opportunity to gather for a weekend for fellowship and spiritual renewal. (ie. Rock Retreat in Ocean City) Adult counselors needed for this event.

Blood Drive Volunteer - in conjunction with the Red Cross and blood drive is held twice a year. Volunteers are always needed to make calls and to help on the day of the blood drive.

Cub Scout Pack 631 - This Cub Scout pack is chartered by our congregation and meeting regularly each week. Cub Scouts now accept both boys and girls into their program, are always in need of den leaders and parents of the Scouts to assist throughout the year.

Strawbridge Shrine Board - Located near New Windsor, the Strawbridge Shrine is a national historical site for United Methodist. In centers around the Robert Strawbridge House where the first Methodist class originated in 1762.

Timber Ridge Community - Timber Ridge was developed by local churches, including WUMC to provide moderate-cost housing for seniors. We are in need of a member of our church to serve on the board of directors in addition to two other currently standing members of our church.

Crossroads Christian Preschool - a certified Maryland State Department of Education Preschool, our teachers oversee a 2,3, and 4 year old program. We need members of our congregation to serve on the Preschool Board of Directors.

Church Council Member - this is the communications hub of our church were dreams and visions are shared, plans made and implemented.

Trustee - The trustees are charged with maintaining our buildings, and hold fiduciary responsibility over the assets of the church.

Permanent Endowment Committee - Oversees the permanent endowment of the church and this committee serves as a subcommittee to the Trustees. The Permanent Endowment Committee generally only meets once a year.

Finance and Stewardship Team - This team is responsible for overseeing the finances of the church, including budget preparation and holding an annual Stewardship campaign.

Staff Parish Relations Team - The team relates to the paid staff. Their work includes being a liaison for staff concerns, annual reviews, hiring salaries, recognition and prayerful support of our staff members.

Lay Leadership Development Team - This team equips, develops, trains and assists leaders to find meaningful places of Christian worship.

Lay Member to Annual Conference - Each year the Baltimore Washington Annual Conference holds an Annual Conference where the ministries of our conference are celebrated and plans are made for upcoming years. This is were you will truly see the connection and diversity of our UMC.

Recording Secretary - This position serves as the recording and dissemination of Church Council business minutes each month.

Membership Secretary - This position oversees the membership and attendance records of each person who attends, joins, or participates in the life and ministry of our church.

The Herald Team - The Herald is our monthly newsletter which is mail to members of our church. Each month we need a bulk mail team to organize the sealing, addressing and subsequent mailing of the newsletter.

Out Door Sign Changer - Update and change the outdoor sign which is at our Center & Main facility on Main Street in front of the door entrance.

Occasional Mailings - assist with the church staff in preparing, addressing and sending out church mailings.

Office Staff Fill in- When Sherri is away, we need folks to help man the church office during normal operating hours. This is generally answering the phone or assisting with some office work.

Communication Social Media Specialist Team/Individual - can you help increase our online presence, improve our social media look and are willing to take us into the 21st century?

Shipley Memorial Library - contain a large collection of reference materials and books for children, youth and adults.
