1. AEAWA Survey

As you would be aware SJA have proposed a process to fill the 4x4 roster with rotational/spare staff, during the EBA negotiations. This for now, will effectively have between 4 - 15 officers placed on the day van roster covering start times from 06:00-12:00. The variation in numbers is because St John wish to include rostered annual leave which would also covered by the spare officers.

SJA want these few officers to be either permanently or long term allocated to a day van roster. The AEAWA believes that the 4 x 4 roster is a respite for officers who wish to have a break from the night shifts, and that if just a few people fill all 4x4 vacancies, there will be little or NO respite for those on 224.

The AEA committee advised that we would survey the membership in order to understand the thoughts of officers in relation to this proposal. “St John have claimed numerous times during negotiations that they have trouble filling day vehicles”, a statement your committee finds hard to believe.

The AEAWA would therefore like all members to click here to review the intended process to fill those positions, then complete a small survey so we can present your opinions on this at the next negotiation meeting.

The AEAWA thank you for your continued support and participating in these surveys. Your input is vital at these negotiations.

Question Title

* 1. Do you believe at this time SJA are struggling to get people to work on a day vehicle?

Question Title

* 2. By staffing the roster with spare officers there will be NO ability for 224 officers to go onto a day van roster for respite (break from nights), do you support this?
