Norfolk and Suffolk are on the Government's Devolution Priority Programme with the creation of a new Mayoral Combined County Authority (MCCA) to come into operation in May 2026. This new Authority will be led by a Mayor and will have a range of new powers and funding available through the Devolution Framework. These powers could include leading on transport infrastructure, economic development, skills and the environment. The visitor economy is recognised as a key sector in both Norfolk and Suffolk, and in 2024 the region was awarded Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP) status by VisitEngland with the LVEP led by Visit East of England. The LVEP's Skills Group is keen to ensure the new Mayor has the evidence needed to make informed policy decisions to support our visitor economy businesses to grow and become a long-term, sustainable employment choice for those who live and work in the region.
