School Psychology Best Practices Survey
This project is part of an effort to examine school psychologists’ perceptions of best practices and specific barriers to the implementation of these practices in the field. In addition, the study will explore whether encountering obstacles to best practices affects practitioners’ sense of well-being and occupational health.
As part of this investigation, you will be asked to complete a brief online questionnaire which includes questions related to your use of best practices and your feelings about your work. It should take approximately 15 minutes to complete this survey.
Participation is voluntary and you are under no obligation to respond. You may refuse to participate or withdraw at any time without penalty.
The psychological risks of participating in this investigation are minimal and may include minor discomfort related to disclosing information that you are not comfortable sharing. If you complete this survey on a work computer or using an employer network, there is the possibility of social risk – i.e., there is a chance that your views and actions may be revealed to your employer. You are encouraged to complete this survey on a non-work computer and on a private network in order to protect your privacy.
Precautions will be taken to ensure the anonymity of your responses. The SurveyMonkey option of disconnecting your IP address from your survey responses will be selected in order to preserve your anonymity. Electronic information will be kept on a secure server and a password-protected website accessible only to the principal investigator. Once you’ve completed the online survey, your responses will be downloaded to a data file with no personal information. Only aggregate data from this study will be published, rendering it impossible to identify individual respondents. However, this research record may be reviewed by government agencies (such as the Department of Health and Human Services), the agency sponsoring this research, individuals who are authorized to monitor or audit the research, or the Institutional Review Board (the committee that oversees all research in human subjects at Adelphi University) if required by applicable laws or regulations. The material will be maintained for up to 7 years.
As a thank you for your participation, you will be entered into a lottery to win one of four $50 Amazon gift cards. At the end of the survey, you will be redirected to a form where you can submit your name and email address to be entered into the drawing. Your identity will not be connected with your survey responses in any way.
This research has been reviewed and approved by the Adelphi University Institutional Review Board. If you have any questions at any time about this research or want to discuss any possible study-related incidents, please contact Dr. Dana Boccio at (516) 877-4832 or dboccio@adelphi.edu.
