Professional Development Scholarship Fund Request
Alliance Academy for Providence Nonprofits

Thank you for your important work to strengthen the City of Providence!

The City of Providence has made available a $15,000 professional development scholarship fund for staff of Providence-based nonprofits to take up to three Alliance Academy online courses. Many of these courses provide continuing education credits provided by industry groups like the Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM) and the Project Management Institute. Several Rhode Island colleges and universities may also consider these credits when evaluating for real life experience toward degree programs.

Courses should be related to your career development in the nonprofit sector but do not need to be related specifically to your responsibilities at your current position (ie, Banking and International Trade courses would not be covered, but Nonprofit Financial Management and Budgeting courses would be covered, even if your current role does not involve financial management).

Please visit Alliance Academy before filling out this request, so that you can request a scholarship for the specific course that you are interested in.

If you successfully complete a course, you can then apply for a scholarship for a second course, and then after completion of the second course, you can apply for your third and final scholarship. You are welcome to take additional courses at the discounted Alliance member rate.

You do not need to be a resident of Providence to participate in this program, but you must work for a Providence-based nonprofit.

If you have questions about Alliance Academy or the scholarships available, please email Alliance@unitedwayri.org.
