Kentucky Teacher Workload Survey

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey!

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is seeking to better understand teacher workload as a key teacher recruitment, wellbeing, and retention priority.

Survey details
  • This survey will take approximately 15–20 minutes to complete.
  • Unless otherwise noted, please answer based on your experience during the last 30 school days.
  • Participation is voluntary.
  • The survey asks about how Kentucky teachers spend their professional time, where workload pressures are most significant, and what supports, staffing considerations, or structural changes may help make teaching conditions more sustainable. It also includes questions about planning time, instructional resource use, and emerging AI-supported work practices.

Because each Kentucky school district and local context is unique, this survey asks respondents to identify the district in which they teach. District information will be used only to help KDE understand differences in teaching contexts and will not be used to identify individual respondents.

Responses will be reported in aggregate, and individual teachers will not be identified in any findings or reports. Findings are not intended and will not be used to evaluate individual teachers, schools, districts, curriculum programs, or educational technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) platforms or other applications.

Your responses will help KDE better understand the realities of teacher workload in Kentucky and consider policies and supports that may strengthen teacher wellbeing and retention.
