Since 2009, unaccompanied homeless youth have been eligible to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as independent students-- meaning they do not have to provide parental income information or signature. Many thousands of homeless, unaccompanied students have been able to access financial aid due to this change. However, many others have encountered barriers.
NAEHCY is trying to determine the extent to which barriers to financial aid still exist for unaccompanied homeless youth. This short, anonymous survey will help inform and shape our work. Your feedback is extremely important, as we will compile and share this information with key Congressional offices and federal agencies.
