Rainbow Resource Centre in collaboration with Probe Research, presents The State of 2SLGBTQ+ Communities in Manitoba (affectionately known as “State of the Queer”). This first-of-its-kind survey measures the sense of belonging and well-being of 2SLGBTQ+ Manitobans and benchmarks views on acceptance and allyship in the province.
The folks at Rainbow wished to create a snapshot of 2SLGBTQ+ people in the province, as it builds Place of Pride, Canada’s first purpose-built 2SLGBTQ+ campus. The hope was that the survey results would provide insights into the experiences, needs, and priorities of 2SLGBTQ+ Manitobans, as well as the state of allyship in the province. These findings would then be used to spark conversations with partners, find opportunities for advocacy, and better coordinate services for 2SLGBTQ+ people.
Working closely with Rainbow, Probe Research conducted two parallel surveys in 2025 to understand 2SLGBTQ+ Manitobans and the province’s general population. What follows are the results of those surveys, presented throughout eight specialized reports.
Mary Agnes Welch, Principal at Probe Research, will be presenting this data to OTR and answering questions.
