COVID-19, Interactions with Others, and Mental Health
Study Description and Consent
You are being asked to participate in a student research project conducted for a research methods class at Western Illinois University. You will be asked to complete an online survey that should take less than 30 minutes. The survey will include questions about your response/reactions to the COVID-19 pandemic, relationships with others, and potential mental health consequences. Additional questions will ask about your current health and reasons for playing video games.
Benefits and Risks
Completing this survey may give you a better understanding of how COVID-19 affects you or those around you. In addition, you will be assisting the students as they complete their class research project, as well as other researchers who do not currently know much about how the pandemic use relates to mental health, interactions with others, and relationships. The risks of this study are minimal and similar to those you would encounter in typical normal, daily activities. If for any reason you feel uncomfortable with any question or part of the survey you may skip it, and you may withdraw your participation at any time.
All data will be completely anonymous. No direct identifying information will be collected. Demographic characteristics will only be used to combine responses from people who share similar characteristics.
