Dear Prosecutor:

The National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project, American University, Washington College of Law is partnering with the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys to conduct a brief survey to learn what prosecutors are observing regarding the willingness of foreign born and limited English proficient victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, stalking and human trafficking to work with prosecutors and participate in criminal or prosecutions. We are interested in learning to what extent prosecutors are seeing changes in immigrant victim’s participation in or willingness to seek help and identify the reasons for those changes.

This survey asks for your observations comparing your work with immigrant victims in three different time frames: 5 years ago, 3 years ago and over the course of the past year.  We understand that prosecutions take a number of years to complete and there will be cases you worked on over more than a year. With this in mind, please answer to the best of your ability comparing your case load involving immigrant crime victims from 5 years ago, 3 years ago and in the past year.   Our goal is to learn about changes or trends, if any, that you see in immigrant victims’ willingness to access the justice system when compared to past cases and prosecutions.

The survey is anonymous. We ask only that participants note their state so we can identify any state or regional trends.

The information we learn from the survey will be used to identify trends and needs for training, development of training materials and technical assistance needs of prosecutors.

Please answer all the questions to the best of your ability.

Your help forwarding this survey to other prosecutors in your state and in your networks would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your participation!
