Community Consultation on the Concept Design

Priory Futures Project

Priory Futures is an exciting project launched by Leominster PCC in September 2024 to explore and shape the future of this historic site. The project, primarily funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is nearing completion and we are keen to share with you, and get your feedback on, the Concept Design that the architects have produced. This design was developed in direct response to the findings of the community consultation undertaken during the first phase of the project. As such, we are keen to hear your views on the design. To view a floorplan and an artists illustration of the Concept Design please use the link below.
Some aspects of the planned changes aren’t obvious on the floor plan, we’ve included a list below:
· Improved accessibility throughout the church
· Level floors throughout the south nave – pew platforms and heating pipes removed
· New south entrance with two sets of doors to improve access, visibility and insulation
· New ramp to enable easy access to/from the Norman nave
· Graded floor levels right across the west end of the church
· West doors able to be used more regularly and easily
· Lift between Norman nave and main nave levels to give choice of access and aid moving equipment
· New dais that can move, raise and lower to enable altar placement anywhere required, facilitating all kinds of worship, and act as a stage for concerts and other events
· New toilet block with increased and improved facilities
· Improved kitchen
· Norman nave north aisle opened up
· New storage solutions throughout the building
· Exhibition space including permanent display of the ducking stool
· Meeting space
