2025 HR Florida State Council President's Award

The HR Florida State Council is pleased to recognize one exemplary Chapter President who has significantly impacted the performance of their chapter. Winners have are proven leaders with a combination of compassion, creativity and innovation. Please read the nomination criteria below and submit a nomination for your chapter president today!

Eligibility

To be nominated, you must be a president of one of HR Florida’s 28 local SHRM affiliate chapters and be a member in good standing with SHRM.

Guidelines
  • Entries must be received no later than August 31, 2025. Only current Chapter Board Presidents may be nominated. Nominations may only be submitted by a current Chapter Board Member, President-Elect or District Director. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete entries may be disqualified at the discretion of the selection committee.
  • At the discretion of the selection committee, an award winner may not be chosen.

Please prepare responses for a minimum of three of the five categories listed below. Responses should demonstrate why your nominee should be selected as a finalist for the President’s Award.  Please limit each category’s response to 400 words.
12.Community Involvement

Describe how the chapter president engaged the community; has been community-minded by donating time, talent, and/or financial contributions to local charitable causes. Highlight the organizations that have benefited and how that was achieved. The chapter involvement is key; not necessarily the financial amount of contribution(s).

13.Initiative

Share an initiative the chapter president under took to advance their chapter’s mission, whether the initiative was a success or not. What was the lesson learned? Describe the approach and the reasoning as to why this initiative may have been risky or uncertain. Was it successful? What did the chapter learn from the positive or negative result(s)?

14.Advancing the HR Profession within the Community

Share all strategic partnerships that the chapter undertook this year to better collaborate with other organizations while increasing the awareness of the HR profession. Please provide strategic partner details and outcomes.
15.Advocacy of the SHRM Competency Model and/or SHRM Certification

Describe how the chapter president promoted SHRM Certification and Specialty Credentials to the chapter and incorporated the SHRM Competencies into chapter programs and initiatives. How were chapter members engaged to seek SHRM Certification or Specialty Credentials? Share what the measurable results are.

16.Leading through Adversity

Describe a specific situation that the chapter president either inherited or was faced with during this year that caused him/her to call upon their leadership, organizational, communication and management skills to best resolve and affect a positive outcome. Share how the chapter president approached the situation and what steps were taken to resolve or improve the situation
