Each year the BSSH invites Fellow members to suggest potential candidates to stand for the post of BSSH President. This year’s successful candidate will become president in 2029.

Presidential nominees must be Fellow members of the Society as per the BSSH Constitution.

When providing your recommendation, we ask you to consider the following criteria:
- Their professional standing
- Their contribution to the BSSH. It is expected that future Presidents will have served on Council or in another BSSH position before being elected
- Their contribution to hand surgery, both nationally and internationally
- Diversity
- The overall balance of plastic and orthopaedic surgeons..
All eligible nominations are put forward to the BSSH Officers, Trustees and Council members. Council members consider the information on the application form and the criteria above and may shortlist and/or interview before undertaking a closed vote using a single transferable voting methodology on electronic voting software.

The successful candidate is proposed to the voting members at the next AGM for election as BSSH President for 2029 on the recommendation of Council.
