1. Rules and Guidelines

Please read the following rules and guidelines before continuing:

* 1. The poster contest is open to all students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade. There are 16 statewide awards available:
  • 15 statewide winners will be chosen.
  • One winner will be chosen by the Commissioner of Commerce & Insurance as the “Commissioner’s Choice.”
2. Posters must be original work of the students and must emphasize the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) annual theme, which is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen.” Fire Prevention Week is October 4th-10th, 2019. 3. Posters will be submitted as a file upload through the online registration form. Accepted files are PDF, DOC, DOCX, PNG, JPG, JPEG, and GIF and the file size may be no larger than 16MB. Please make sure the picture of the poster being submitted is clear! All entries submitted to the state MUST have a completed registration form accompanying the poster submission. The use of fire should not be involved in the creation of the posters. Posters with real burn marks will automatically be disqualified.

4. Registration forms and posters must be submitted to the State Fire Marshal’s Office by October 31, 2020, to be considered for statewide judging.

5. State judging will be held in early December 2020 in Nashville and winners will be notified soon thereafter. A list of winners and pictures of the winning posters will be posted on the State Fire Marshal’s website. The statewide winners chosen will each receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Governor, $50 cash, a prize bag, and an awards event in their honor in Nashville in February 2021.
