Cancer is set to become the biggest cause of death and disability in Europe. Healthcare systems are trying to tackle increasing cancer incidence by designing care pathways based on what they believe can deliver the greatest value.
However, there are currently wide variations among different perceptions of what constitutes valuable innovation in cancer treatment. These disparities are often translated into different decisions and policies. There is therefore a need to clearly communicate and try to bridge these different views between cancer care stakeholders and decision-makers in Europe in order to foster effective policymaking.
