Dear Law Enforcement Official:

The National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project, American University, Washington College of Law is conducting a brief survey to learn what police and sheriffs are observing regarding the willingness of foreign born and limited English proficient victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, stalking and human trafficking to call law enforcement officials for help, make police reports and participate in criminal investigations or prosecutions.  We are interested in learning to what extent police and sheriffs are seeing changes in immigrant victim’s participation in or willingness to seek help from law enforcement and what impact, if any, increased immigration enforcement is having on immigrant crime victims and immigrant community cooperation with local law enforcement.

The survey is anonymous.  We ask only that participants note their state so we can identify any state or regional trends.

The information we learn from the survey will be used to identify trends and needs for law enforcement training, development of training materials for police, sheriffs and other law enforcement officials and for providing technical assistance to law enforcement officials.

Please answer all the questions to the best of your ability.

Your help forwarding this survey to other law enforcement agencies in your state and in your networks would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your participation!
