Thank you for expressing interest in participating in an outcome evaluation being conducted by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).

The ACR received federal funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to implement a national lupus awareness campaign, including a local campaign called the Playbook Project. The Playbook Project includes a guidebook of detailed activities (the Playbook) for local organizations to conduct lupus awareness activities at their institutions.

We are recruiting faith-based organization leader points of contact (POCs) for an evaluation. The purpose of this evaluation is to gather feedback on the implementation of the Playbook by faith- based organizations (FBOs).

As a POC, you will serve as the liaison between your organization and the ACR during this program evaluation. Should you agree to participate, you will be asked to 1) recruit members of your organization to take part in an online pretest and posttest survey, and 2) hold a hands-on lupus awareness event at your organization.

If you decide to recruit members to take part in the online surveys, it is your responsibility to:

Recruit at least 12, but not more than 15 female African American members (aged 18-25) to complete a pretest and posttest survey (before and after the online education session) respectively.

The members you recruit that agree to participate in the study will be randomly assigned to a treatment or a control group:
  • Treatment group participants will be asked to watch a Playbook education session video.
  • Control group participants will be asked to watch a non-lupus health video.
Upon successful completion of the pretest and posttests by at least 12 members of your organization, you will be eligible to receive a $500 incentive check for your organization.

If you decide to host a hands-on lupus awareness event at your organization, it is your responsibility to:
  • Coordinate and track social media campaigns with your organization advertising the event.
  • Coordinate and implement a hands-on event at your organization.
  • Conduct on-the-spot surveys using tablets or smartphones or hand out fliers with a link to a satisfaction survey to the hands-on event attendees.
  • Collect attendee sign-in sheets and submit them to evaluation staff members.
Upon submission of the completed satisfaction surveys and event sign-in sheets, you will be eligible to receive a $500 incentive for your organization.

If you are still interested in participating, please answer the following questions to confirm your eligibility. The answers to these questions will be kept confidential and will take less than 5 minutes of your time.
