The Town of Plainfield is producing it's first Hazard Mitigation Plan with assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission and funding from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA). This planning effort is being undertaken to help the town assess the risks faced from natural hazards, identify action steps that can be taken to prevent damage to property and loss of life, and prioritize funding for mitigation efforts. A mitigation action is any action taken to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to human life and property from hazards.
Your participation is an important part of the planning process! Plainfield residents are invited to a public meeting on October 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Plainfield Town Hall, 304 Main Street. All members of the public are welcome to attend the event. Local businesses, residents of neighboring communities, and municipal officials of neighboring communities are also encouraged to attend and provide their feedback.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this short survey, and please spread the word about the HMP to your neighbors and friends!
