The Community Social Planning Council (CSPC) is recruiting volunteers to take part in the Point-in-Time Count (PiT Count), a count of people experiencing homelessness in Greater Victoria on Thursday March 15th, 2018. The PiT Count will be held between Noon and 11:59 pm both inside housing facilities and out-of-doors on the streets.

By volunteering for the PiT Count you will help gather information that will assist planners, funders, and agencies develop appropriate responses to homelessness in our region as well as measure progress in ending homelessness.

We hope you will participate in the PiT Count by completing the application form. Please feel free to forward this invitation to people you think would be interested in taking part in the PiT Count.

We are looking for volunteers who are:
• Compassionate, accepting and enjoy one-on-one conversations with people
• Have a non-judgmental attitude and a good sense of humor
• Outgoing, curious and have a pleasant manner
• Experienced in front line service delivery (although not necessary to volunteer)

What is involved? The PiT Count involves conducting a brief, anonymous survey with people who are experiencing homelessness. The shelter survey is conducted inside shelters and the outside count is conducted out-of-doors, walking around a specific area or neighborhood. Each volunteer must attend a two-hour training session and must be 19 years of age or older.

Once you have completed this application form someone will be in touch to complete the application process, to confirm training dates, and to provide more information about volunteer schedules, locations, and tasks.

The PiT Count is funded through the federal Homelessness Partnering Strategy and involves the collaboration of HPS funded communities across Canada. The Capital Regional District is the Community Entity for this HPS funding.

If you have any questions about the Point-in-Time Count, please feel free to get in touch with PiT Count Coordinator, Stefanie Hardman at Stefanie@communitycouncil.ca or 250-383-6166 ext. 111.
