Phyllis Gall Grandparent Service Award

A tremendous supporter of DSAMT, Phyllis was grandmother of Ron Talbott and mother of our very own executive director Alecia Talbott. Sadly, we lost Phyllis in 2014 after a very long, hard-fought battle with cancer. However, she continues to give back to our organization everyday through "Phyllis' Angel Babies Program," an initiative of the Music City Quilt Guild, of which Phyllis was a long-standing member. Through this program, guild members make beautiful, one-of-a-kind, hand made quilts for DSAMT. We then provide those quilts in our celebration gift bag to welcome families with newborns into our community - throughout the state. Thus far they have made more than 400 quilts for DSAMT's First Call program.

In honor of Phyllis’s legacy, DSAMT created the Phyllis Gall Grandparent Award to recognize outstanding service to the Down syndrome community, and the award is given annually. We invite members of DSAMT and the community to nominate a grandparent who has selflessly given his/her time and talents to improve the lives of individuals with Down syndrome in the Middle Tennessee region.

To nominate your candidate please complete the questions below before March 1st. Nominations will be reviewed by the Board of Directors of DSAMT, and the winner will be notified and recognized at the annual World Down Syndrome Day Celebration.
