Personal Story

You are invited to participate in a project titled Policies that Perpetuate Systemic Racism.
The goal of this project is to understand lived experiences of people impacted by the following policies: (formerly titled) Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Acts, Bill 21 (Quebec’s Secularization Bill) and Canada Child Benefit. Your participation will help us understand the impact these policies have on different communities in Canada.

As part of this project, CASSA is collecting personal stories from individuals who have been impacted by either of these policies. Your story can help us formulate our public awareness campaign aimed at helping the general population and political representatives understand the impact of these policies on real people. By sharing your experience, you can help shed light on the challenges faced by individuals affected by such policies and inspire action towards more effective and equitable solutions.
Choosing whether or not to participate is entirely your choice. If you decide not to participate, there will be no negative impact on your relationship with the researcher. This research will not impact your immigration status or employment status in any way as the survey is completely anonymous.

The personal information collected in this research project is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act. All your information will be kept anonymously (anonymous)  with no identifying information on file. In addition to protecting your personal information, the Privacy Act gives you the right to request access to, and correction of, your personal information. You also have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you think your personal information has been handled improperly.

If you have any questions about the research, please contact the project manager, Sonia Baweja at sonia@cassa.on.ca.
