Introduction
The new five-year Perkins V, Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (formerly known as the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act) has been issued by the U.S. Department of Education beginning with the 2019-20 school year. For Missouri, 2019-20 Perkins V will be a transition year with submittal for final approval in June 2020. The state plan is administered by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's (DESE's) Office of College and Career Readiness. Missouri receives about $22 million per year under the Perkins V Act to support career and technical education programs across the state.
