1. Alumni Liaison Form

The aim of the Penn Nursing Alumni Liaison Program is to:
  • increase student awareness of the variety of clinical roles nurses play
  • reinforce their identification with the nursing profession
  • help students begin building their professional network by connecting with alumni early in their education

If you work in the greater Philadelphia area in direct-patient care in a clinical setting, you can host a first year student for a workplace visit. In addition to the benefit to the students, participation is an opportunity for you to engage first hand with Penn Nursing's education mission and to share your experience and expertise as you give new students their first meaningful look at nursing.

Before hosting a student, we ask that you confirm approval with your supervisor/employer. All students will receive appropriate immunizations before beginning their shadowing experience. If documentation or other paperwork is needed for approval by your employer, please email Nursingalumni@nursing.upenn.edu and we will do our best to meet these requirements. However, please note that significant advance notice of these requirements is needed and in some cases, we will not be able to place students due to your employer's restrictions.

Current Employer Restrictions:
None at this time.

Next Steps for the Liaison Program

Thank you for offering to host a Penn Nursing student this fall! Monthly emails will be sent to alumni volunteers through October to keep you up to date about the program. Your student-alumni match(es) will be made in late September, after classes have begun. Students will receive their alumni match assignments after they have completed their immunization requirements, usually in early October, and it is the students responsibility to contact you directly in order to schedule their shadowing visit for this fall.
