Calling All Parents!

We invite you to participate in the life of the school.

The purpose of the Parents Council of Virginia Episcopal School is to engage and involve parents in the life of the school community to effectively support the school in its commitment to guide every student Toward Full Stature.

As with anything, the more you put into something, the more you get out of it. We encourage you to be involved with VES through the Parents Council! You will feel more connected with VES when you connect with other parents and involve yourself in campus events. Each committee has a chair who will be in touch with you about the specific ways/times you can help.

Please tell us how you would like to lend your time and talents so that we may find the best ways to involve you in VES life.

TIP: We know how very busy parents are with work, family and community! Keep in mind that expressing interest is just that…it is not a commitment!

* 1. Admissions - Margaret Keller & Elizabeth Smith, co-chairs

Admissions Open House Greeters – Greet and mingle with prospective families during on-campus open houses

Admissions Regional Team Support – Assist host families in your area. May include identifying prospective candidates, helping set up for the event, participating in the event, following up with families after the event, etc.

School Fairs – Support Admissions staff at regional school fair in your area

Admissions Calling – Call prospective families to answer questions and promote the school

Welcome Newly Enrolled Families – Call new families over the summer to welcome them to the VES family and answer any questions

Promote and provide support for our fabulous fine and performing arts programs.

Team Parent – Help coordinate drinks/snacks for a team, facilitate team dinners (when desired by a coach)

Community/School Spirit – Participate in tailgates or other activities to build community/school spirit around sporting events

Serve on the Auction Committee – Areas of need include marketing, item collection, cataloging items, planning for auction decoration/set up

Help set up for the auction or work a shift the evening of the event

Donate an item, described below:

Examples: week at a vacation home, offering a service (laundry for a boarder, Starbucks delivery), hosting an event (pool party, pizza party), artwork, etc.

Assist with providing opportunities for the students to participate in community service activities, on and off campus.

Grade Level Campaigners - Call parents to encourage participation in VES events and the Annual Fund

Bring happiness to our faculty and staff by providing food and drink throughout the year.

Garden Brigade — Tiffany Tompkins, chair
Beautify the campus by helping maintain a few small gardens and containers. Green thumbs not required!

Hanging of the Greens on November 27 — Ashley Carrington & Jane Marr, co-chairs
Join students and other parents to “Deck the Halls” for the holidays, hang wreaths, trim trees, drape fresh pine roping and more

Be a welcoming face for VES by assisting with campus events—Orientation, Admissions visits, Fall and Spring Family Weekends, Homecoming Weekend, etc.

Support our boarders by helping with special snacks and activities that bring them happiness.
