Palmetto Dunes Property Owners Association has begun a community wide initiative to get Palmetto Dunes certified as an Audubon International Sustainable Community (SCP). As part of this initiative, Palmetto Dunes will be enhancing our existing sustainability projects and creating a long-term, comprehensive sustainability program for the community. A key component of the SCP certification process will be the development of a community-wide plan, with community input, to implement best practices across a range of focus areas.

This survey is a first opportunity for you to give input into that process. While it does cover several areas, and not all apply to every individual, it should not take more than 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Please check the actions you regularly take in your daily life to protect the natural resources and unique landscapes where you live.

I am in the habit of conserving water and energy.

I save water by shutting it off during teeth brushing and shaving, taking shorter showers, running the dishwasher on full loads, and adjusting the water level for smaller loads of laundry.

In order to reduce waste, I consider what I need, buy products that last, and avoid overly packaged items.

I regularly choose reusable products.

I recycle paper, glass, plastic, and metal; I purchase products with recycled content.

I make inexpensive upgrades, such as installing low-flow add-ons like faucet aerators.

I replace older, large tank toilets with low-flush models.

I've conducted a home energy audit and keep my air-conditioner tuned up.

I’ve switched to compact fluorescent light bulbs or LED bulbs.

I invest in home improvements, such as better insulation and energy-efficient appliances.

I don't do any of the above actions.
