Title:   Interventional Pain: Pain Management Without Opioids

Speaker:  Daniel F. Lonergan, MD – Assistant Professor in Clinical Anesthesiology, Medical Director of Comprehensive Pain Service, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.
Purpose:  This enduring material is designed to examine the most current evidence for opioid therapy in order to utilize interventional and alternative strategies to reduce opioid therapy in pain patients.  

Target Audience:   This activity is designed for Physicians and Residents at HCA GME Hospitals.

Format: This presentation was pre-recorded for HCA GME National Grand Rounds Series.

Educational Objectives: Upon completion of this activity you will be able to:
Ø  Discuss common causes of chronic pain.
Ø  Identify leading edge strategies in interventional pain management.
Ø  Compare and contrast a variety of classes of medications commonly used to treat pain.
Ø  Discuss current evidence for opioid therapy in chronic pain and how interventional/alternative strategies can reduce opioid use in pain patients.
