Follow-up Questionnaire

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am an American researcher at the University of Tromsø in northern Norway. If you self-identify as Pagan (or even if you are only marginally involved in Paganism), I would like to invite you to complete the following questionnaire--The Pagan III Survey. I know how precious your time is, so I deeply appreciate your taking the time to respond.

Together with Helen Berger, I have co-conducted a set of surveys of the Pagan community over the past half dozen years--the Pagan Census Revisited (PCR-I) and the Pagan Census Revisited II (PCR-II). These two questionnaires gathered interesting and important information.

Data for the PCR-II was collected in 2013. Since then, I have had new research questions arise. l have also been working with a new approach that provides select information on the development of Pagans and Paganism over time. You can get a sense of the direction of this new research by consulting one of my recent papers, "Processual Pagans," which I wrote with one of my students, and which I have posted on my academia.edu webpage:

https://www.academia.edu/22229947/Processual_Pagans_Quasi-longitudinal_approaches_to_survey_research

The questionnaire is completely anonymous, does NOT collect any identifying information and does NOT collect your IP address.

Thanks for your help.

All the Best,

Jim

Ancient advanced civilizations, such as Atlantis, once existed.
Some alternative treatments are at least as effective as traditional medicine.
Some people have the ability to heal by means that are not scientifically proven
It is possible to influence the world through the mind alone.
It is possible to be clairvoyant
It is possible to communicate by means of telepathy
It is possible to communicate with the dead.
Dreams can sometimes foretell the future or reveal hidden truths.
Everyone has non-human guides (angels, spirits, power animals or the like)
Some UFOs are probably spaceships from other worlds.
Extraterrestrials intervened in human history in the distant past.
Stones and crystals can have magical powers
Wearing rings or other jewelry made out of certain specific stones or crystals can positively influence the wearer's health
Astrological forces impact one's life and personality.
At least some astrologers, palm readers, fortune-tellers, and psychics can foresee and predict the future
We accumulate karma as a result of our thoughts and actions
Past actions, either in this lifetime or in a previous life, can have karmic effects on the present
We are reborn on Earth after we die (reincarnation)
The divine is within yourself
We are approaching an entirely new age that will radically change our view of science, spiritual knowledge, and/or humanity.
The biggest problem humanity faces is a lack of love and solidarity
"Modernity" -- in the specific sense of a purely scientific worldview, secularization, urbanization, etc. -- is a problem
All spiritual paths are of equal value

37. Have you ever read a book, consulted a Web site (more than casually), or researched the following topics?

38. Which of the statements below best summarizes your opinion of professional astrologers, psychics, palm readers, and other people who claim to foresee the future?

This “official version” could mask the fact that these events have been planned and secretly prepared by a covert alliance of powerful individuals or organizations (for example secret services or government).
On a scale of one (completely true) to nine (completely false), to what degree do you think this is an accurate or inaccurate statement?

Certain diseases, drugs and new technologies have secretly been tried out on the general public (or on certain specific sub-populations)
A small, secretive group of people has a significant influence on the world economy
Knowledge of -- and/or progress toward -- a cure for cancer, AIDS, and other profitable diseases is deliberately being hindered by Big Pharma
New and better technologies are being suppressed by people whose businesses would be challenged by them
