2026 Clean Energy Implementation Plan: Member Benefits Survey
In 2019, the State of Washington legislature passed the Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA). This law requires Centralia City Light (CCL) to submit a Clean Energy Implementation Plan (CEIP). We are asking for customer input to assist in preparing this plan.
Clean energy is electricity that does not produce carbon or other greenhouse gases (GHG) when it is generated. Examples are Hydro, Solar, Wind, Geothermal, and Tidal power.
CCL purchases the majority of your power from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). Most (over 90%) of that power is GHG and carbon-free from hydro and nuclear sources. As our area’s electrical needs have increased, your utility has purchased additional power from BPA and from the power market. The “power market” is a combination of various resources, managed by an independent market operator. In our area, much of this generation is produced by Hydro, but sometimes it could be coal, wind, or natural gas. CCL contracts for the necessary amounts to meet the electrical needs of our customers.
CCL Clean Energy Implementation Plan is impacted by industry changes and technology improvements. We want to better understand how our customers view their community and how the transition to cleaner electricity could help shape the future.
