Important Update for Hold the Door Day

We’re sharing some hard news, but we want to start by saying we hope, and plan, to keep doors open. Despite our best efforts, our enrollment was lower than what we need to make our program successful. We’ve had to make the very hard decision to cancel our April 1st Hold the Door Day event.

Part of what makes Hold the Door Day special is the way participants build community together throughout the day. That community element, and our participants’ collective engagement, is a core pillar of our growth approach. Without enough participants we miss that key feature, and the process we created over the last 15 years will not have the same outcome.

We know this day is important to so many of you, as it is to us, and we were looking forward to expanding our Hold the Door family to first-time registrants. But one thing we believe in is digging deep when things get rough – our northstar is growing through the hard times – and we are committed to doing that hard work to find new ways to engage the community we love so much.

We want to give a heartfelt thank you for the support and encouragement over the last few months and for all of you who helped spread the word about the event. While we get to work behind the scenes, please check out our website and resource page. We know that people look forward to and rely on this day - if you are navigating a hard time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly. We’re happy to make support recommendations.

This isn’t a door closed – we promise to always hold one open for you.

More to come soon!
Your Hold the Door Team
