You are being invited to participate in a research project being conducted by Chad Wetterneck, PhD, clinical psychology faculty at the University of Houston – Clear Lake. Participation in this study is entirely voluntary and you may refuse to participate or decide to stop your participation at any time. Should you refuse to participate in the study, withdraw your consent, and/or stop participation in the study, your decision will involve no penalty or loss of benefits to which you may be otherwise entitled. If you chose to participate, you will be one of approximately 150 people who will participate in this study.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The purpose of this research is to explore the concept of self-compassion and related factors and their relationship with OCD severity.
PROCEDURES You will be asked to fill out a survey that asks basic demographic questions as well as questions about your OCD symptom severity and presentation, feelings of guilt, shame, and worry, and the ways in which you respond to your thoughts and feelings.
EXPECTED DURATION The total anticipated time to complete the study is 30 minutes.
RISKS OF PARTICIPATION There are no anticipated risks associated with participation in this project. Should you decide you are uncomfortable with answering the questions during the study, you can stop your participation at any time.
BENEFITS TO THE SUBJECT You will not receive any direct benefit from your participation. Your participation will help the investigators explore how self-compassion is related to symptom severity and presentation in individuals with OCD.
CONFIDENTIALITY OF RECORDS Every effort will be made to maintain the confidentiality of your study records. The data collected from the study will be used for educational and publication purposes only. Participants' documentation for this research project will be maintained and safeguarded by Chad Wetterneck, PhD for a minimum of three years after completion of the study, after which time, the data may be destroyed.
FINANCIAL COMPENSATION There is no financial compensation for participation in this study.
INVESTIGATOR’S RIGHT TO WITHDRAW PARTICIPANT The investigator has the right to withdraw you from this study at any time.
