GOP Heart-Check (2 minutes) For each item, choose the response that most aligns with your inner feelings. Be completely truthful, knowing you don’t have to tell anybody how you answered. Question Title * 1. U.S. attacks 3 boats in the Caribbean, claims boaters smuggled drugs, no verification. Dead: at least 17, no verification. No judge, no jury, no verification of boaters’ IDs. I’m okay with the President killing whoever he feels should be killed. If they were Venezuelans, I’m okay with killing them, because Venezuelans are gang members. If they were drug dealers, I’d rather see them killed than being arrested and prosecuted the old-fashioned way. The President acted under the law that says he can repel an invasion, and if he says they were invading, they were invading. If President Trump calls something anti-American, he should be able to do whatever he wants in order to stop it. I can’t support a President ordering people to be killed whenever he wants, but I’m a Republican, so what can I do? Killing boaters in the Caribbean might have been a mistake, but President Trump has done so much other good stuff, I’ll give him a pass on this. Question Title * 2. People legally in the U.S. grabbed by ICE in their homes, carted off to prison for saying things Trump didn’t like. For ex.: Khalil, legal green card + student visa, no criminal charges, married to an American — Agents showed up at Khalil’s apartment, revoked his green card + visa, detained 104 days, judge had to spring him. (Trump confirms: Khalil snatched for his politics, says it’s “the first arrest of many to come.”) This would never happen to me because I wouldn’t say anything against the President so as far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t really matter. Freedom of speech only goes so far, then you have to squash it. We have to be a united country, that’s more important than free speech — unless we have a Democrat in the White House, in which case we’re broken, so we need freedom of speech to make it right. I’m okay with arresting, imprisoning, and deporting people and then deciding later whether it was right to do all that stuff. If President Trump calls something anti-American, he should be able to do whatever he wants in order to stop it. I can’t support the abduction, imprisonment, and deportation of people who haven’t been charged with a crime, but I’m a Republican, so what can I do? Deporting U.S. citizens and legals might have been a mistake, but President Trump has done so much other good stuff, I’ll give him a pass on this. Question Title * 3. Trump in just 1 week: sues Times for negative coverage; calls ABC News coverage “hate speech,” warns of federal prosecution; urges TV networks to cancel more comedians; threatens revoked network licenses for negative coverage (claims “they’re not allowed to do that” and “that’s really illegal”); demands AG prosecute his political rivals (“NOW!!!”); disparages Charlie Kirk at memorial for forgiveness of foes (says “I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them”). I’m okay with all this. It’s only hate speech if I hate it. A comedian isn’t important enough to make this big a deal about. Prosecuting the President’s political rivals is what the Attorney General is there for. If President Trump calls something anti-American, he should be able to do whatever he wants in order to stop it. I can’t support the suppression of free speech by the President or anyone else, but I’m a Republican, so what can I do? Some of this stuff might have been a mistake, but President Trump has done so much other good stuff, I’ll give him a pass on this. Thank you for taking the GOP Heart-Check Quiz!
